Spread Some Good Today!

This is an excerpt of a conversation I had with someone today. And I feel too many people out there don’t really see what difference, simple acts of kindness, create in the world. So hey, let’s spread some good today!

“Now! Stop judging me to have shouted at that beggar! I am good with people, you know. The right kind of people.”

“I am not judging but OK, let’s see if what I am to say makes any sense to you…

…Since that kid on the street never (or rarely) had any good experience talking to people, don’t you think it’s even more important to treat him well and keep him hopeful of seeing good in the world?

Don’t you want more people to do the same to you?

Hope. Isn’t it wonderful enough? Wouldn’t you want to spread it? Isn’t life beautiful that way? Seeing more good out there…Doesn’t that enrich your life in return?

I am not asking you to leave everything and dedicate your life to such kids. That kind of thing takes more courage and grit you and I can even imagine to have at this point in life. But at least, we can be polite and kind to him/her…do whatever it takes in that situation and moment to show some kindness, instead of going mad over the poor kid asking for alms to you.

And the kid was obviously not going to demolish your car. A little scratch is okay, I think, if in anyway we can see a not-so-privileged one, smile or become a little hopeful of the good in life.”

Being Inclusive

Include. Love. Grow.

It took me really long to get here. But, it’s befitting and works like a charm!

Hear me reflect and pour my heart out.

If we empathise and show love, the other one considers listening and understanding us…

We cannot dismiss the other one as narrow minded/silly …they are just doing what they know best and unless we respect that and include them, we will make living with them difficult. Really difficult.

So it’s only wise that we show genuine love (every person deserves it) and be inclusive… That way we can rub some sense and see them transform for good (being patient helps)

What we get in return? Love, healthy relationships and a conducive environment to grow! 😊

My daily dose of meditation

This portrait took unnecessarily too long for completion.
So much goes inside me whenever I do an artwork.
My mind is pretty silent throughout but the feelings mill about somewhere in between the nadir and the zenith.
This is my daily dose of meditation.

Battleship

reflection1

“Two battleships assigned to the training squadron had been at sea on maneuvers in heavy weather for several days. I was serving on the lead battleship & was on watch on the bridge as night fell. The visibility was poor with patchy fog, so the captain remained on the bridge keeping an eye on all activities.
Shortly after dark, the lookout on the wing of the bridge reported,
“Light, bearing on the starboard bow.”
“Is it steady or moving astern?” the captain called out.
Lookout replied, “Steady, captain,” which meant we were on a dangerous collision course with that ship.
The captain then called to the signalman, “Signal that ship: We are on a collision course, advise you change course 20 degrees.”
Back came a signal, “Advisable for you to change course 20 degrees.”
The captain said, “Send, I am a captain, change course 20 degrees.”
“I am a seaman second class,” came the reply. “You had better change course 20 degrees.”
By that time, the captain was furious. He spat out, “Send, I’m a battleship. Change course 20 degrees.”
Back came the flashing light, “I’m a lighthouse.”
We changed course.” – excerpt from stephen covey’s 7 habits of highly effective people.

We all are the battleships in the sea of life. Principles are the lighthouses. We cannot break them. We can only break ourselves against them. The fog is that limited perception we all live with.

Yes Papa?

When do people resort to dishonesty? When their honesty becomes an unwanted stumbling block. But if we probe the anatomy of a lie, we come up with all that’s undesirable, imperfect, corrupt, negative & vicious in human nature. And the word evil instantly conjures up visions of black, darkness. And this completes our allegory & balances the equation.

Truth is light. Every falsehood symbolizes darkness. Every-time we lie, we are attempting to obscure light & bring out darkness. What we must discover is whether one can succeed in snuffing out the candle of truth altogether.

An eclipse is a natural phenomenon occurring at foreseeable intervals when a temporary shadow is cast on the sun by the moon. The keyword in this case is “temporary”. After a predictable time-span, as the celestial bodies continue on their fixed orbits, the shadow passes & the sun, resumes shining in all its glory. It is to be seen whether same is the case when dishonesty tries to eclipse the truth.

History gives us countless abiding examples proving that truth has sometimes been obscured, but never obliterated. In the modern everyday world too, there’s a fresh evidence daily of the subversion of truth for various reasons. Scams & scandals rock economic & political foundations at frequent intervals but the very fact that they are labelled as such indicates that the eclipse will be over & the truth will soon be out! What constitutes a subversion of truth? It is not simply a case of “Johnny Johnny/ Yes papa / Eating sugar? / No papa /Telling a lie / No papa/ Open your mouth? / Ha Ha Ha!” Though even in this elementary & simplistic representation of truth, Johnny does not manage to get away with his lie. It is in nature of things that an eclipse is not everlasting. Truth shines out ultimately.

Happiness

musing

My past pinions me
while I pine for what is not.
My future furnishes hope in me
while I fumble with what is rot.
My road to happiness is littered with pot-holes & pit-falls,
It passes from time to time through unknown territory where no roads exist at all.
My efforts are perpetual for this illusive abstraction,
As I have come to believe that my road to happiness is under construction.

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet. Let it not be a death but completeness.Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

No Longer Together

no longer

You & me be the ripples on the surface of water,
For as we grow older,
You & me will no longer have been there together.
Even in nostalgia you & me will come apart,
Because memories will die in blearness as the times ahead would dart.
